PARTICIPANT ELIGIBILITY: The 2007 NCFCA Region IV
Tournament is by invitation only. Please check the list of invitations for both
speech and debate to ensure that your information is listed correctly.
JUNIOR SPEECH DIVISION: A Junior Speech Division for
beginning speakers age 12 and below will be offered alongside the Regional
Invitational on Friday. A 12-year-old student may not compete in both speech divisions
at the same tournament. The events (Platform, Interpretive, and Impromptu)
offered will be generally run with NCFCA rules but with a 5-minute maximum time
limit. There will be no mandatory penalties in rank for junior speech events.
REGISTRATION: Registration will be open in April.
Refunds will only be issued for extenuating circumstances. Don’t register if
your participation is uncertain. A family’s e-mail registration is their
commitment to pay the registration fee, even if they do not attend the
tournament.
DRESS CODE: The spirit of the dress code is modesty and professionalism with the intent to glorify Christ. The goal is to minimize the focus on the body or outward appearance and maximize the focus on the development of ideas and communication skills. Competitors must be professional, clean and well-groomed. Gentlemen shall wear suits or sport coats and ties. Ladies shall wear either dresses, skirts, or suits. Hemlines shall fall to at least the bottom of the knee.
AWARDS CEREMONY: The awards ceremony is an important part of the tournament and is intended to be an encouraging and respectful ceremony to celebrate every student’s achievement during the tournament. Students accepting awards will be required to adhere to the dress code, and students in the audience are encouraged to remain in dress code out of respect for the students receiving awards.
CHAPERONES: All competitors under age 18 must be accompanied and supervised by a
parent, legal guardian, or adult chaperone throughout the entire tournament. An
adult chaperone (other than a parent) accepts full responsibility in the
parent’s absence and should be in possession of a signed medical release for
each student.

league rules may be found at www.NCFCA.org.
